Sup guys. I need a bit of help choosing some parts for a new PC :p

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: End of this month probably(still not sure... I don't want to wait 1+ months for something though)

BUDGET RANGE: Title, $500-700

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming(Only playing COD4 and Starcraft... Might buy COD:WaW or Crysis later on), surfing the internet, Video editing.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers, Monitor

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.com, or any other site offering good prices

PARTS PREFERENCES: AMD or Intel, doesn't really matter. Whatever can run COD4 at max@1280x1024. Hate the lagg :(

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1280x1024

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I don't really need a quiet PC, but not too loud either.(My Pentium D 820+8600GT XXX really bothers me now. LOUD AS FUDGE. Games don't play at max settings :|) I don't need some fancy case w/ lights, plain or simple is fine for me.

I need an OS :(

* * *NOTE* * *
At California we have tax so the parts together@$600 might end up like $700+. Really hate it, would save me a lot of $$$ without tax lol

You can download the Windows 7 RC1 to save some money on your OS now, but you'll have to buy a license before March.

If you get the 4gb of ram this person suggested, make sure you download the 64 bit version of Windows 7 RC1, to see all 4gb. Sorry if you already knew, just making sure. Better safe than sorry.

+1 for this buid, for your budget it's probably one of the best options out there. Also Windows 7 is good stuff, +1 for that too.

Make sure you have a DVD-R available to burn that .ISO of Windows 7 Release Candidate to. It is free to use for now. If you run into problems getting it to install or with a feature, try posting to the official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. They usually respond quickly to problem posts and can sort you out.
The other thing to be wary of with using Windows 7 RC as your OS, is that there is no official path to upgrade from the RC to the final version (due out on October 22nd). Somebody may find a way to do it, but it is really not recommended. Finally, Windows 7 RC will only work until June 1 of next year. It will also start rebooting every 2 hours starting March 1 of next year (2010). Seeing that the final version will be out by the end of October, which gives you 4-5 months of uninterrupted work even after the final release before you _HAVE_ to buy a final OS.

You may want to look at an aftermarket cooler if you want to overclock. The Xigmatek Dark Knight is one of the better air coolers out, and is quite cheap (~$40).
