Ok my computer isn't running hot I just want to do this to see how much it will lower my temps.
So my plan is to attach some type of 3inch or 4inch duct over half my ac vent in my bedroom and run it into my pc case.
My case has an intake right above the CPU fan on the side of the case.
So I will run it the duct from the ac vent in my room to that intake (about 8 ft).
That way the ac will blow right in the side of the case ontop of the heatsink and fan.
The ac temp is 73F or 23C. So it should work rather well.
Now the issue I have is what kind of duct should I use. I went to a hardware store and they had 2 types of duct
1st is aluminum 4inch wide /8feet long (flexable dryer duct) $9
2nd is rubbery/plastic; 4inch wide/12feet long (flexable outdoor drain extension) $8
They both flex about the same.
I can't decide which one will work better
The aluminum or rubbery/plastic one????

1.There is no reason why PC would need that kind of additional cooling unless you are obverclocking s**t out of it. If it is getting too hot maybe You should be trying to find out why and fixing the problem. I meen If You got A/C in Your room it should be cool enough in the room for PC not to overheat. What are the temperatures You are getting, system specs, overclock, hsf?
2.If You still want to go ahead with Your plan get the plastic one as it is better insulator and air will heat up less while travelling through the duct to PC. Cut it shorter to suit Your needs.
3.I really doubt AC temp is 23C, it might be set to keep 23C temperature in the room, but it is blowing quite a bit colder air out to get the room temperature down.
4.Also You might want to tape over rest of Your A/C vent to make sure cold air is actually getting to Your PC but in this case room would not cool good enough so back to point 1.
System is not overclocked and at max the CPU temp is 44c (I've neveR seen 45c yet).
I just want to experiment. The AC in the house is set to 73F and the vent is very powerful it's the first vent that the AC blows air out. (I would say it's about 5 feet from the coil). I just need to know which one insulates better. (kinda sounds like the rubber/plastic one).
44C is very good temp for CPU, You should not worry before it goes over 70-75C. If You just want to experiment, yes plastic one should be better insulator.
Watch for condensation on surfaces cooled below room temperature. If the ambient humidity is sufficiently high, parts of the case - especially around the duct mounting and in direct fire of the chilled air - will be quite cold. drip. drip. drip.
