So... my hard drive is dead, isn't it?

"Reboot and select proper Boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

When I run the Windows install disk it can't find my primary install drive or any system restore info.

She's dead, isn't she?

Yep. It's happened to me, too. No clue how.

Glad to hear it still works, though. I'll be crushed when my six year old Barracuda dies on me, but I don't see that happening in the near future. ;)

I'd recommend getting the HDTune Pro trial and running the disk test and health check on it to be sure nothing's going wrong, though. Just to be safe. You can get the free non-pro version, too, just for monitoring once the trial runs out.

Drive still operating normally, for now. Replacement on the way. Hey, I bought this drive from some random guy on Craigslist, is the lifetime warranty still in place? It's a Seagate Barracuda.

If you run a few extended tests it will recover the hdd in the end if you are persistent :) (if you have any sensitive data its worth trying).I love that about Seagate! Anyway i wouldn't use it anymore it can fail anytime
