My friend just bought a HP comp from best buy has a 1TB HD he gets a 7.5 for his disc transfer rate in wei! i opened it up it was a caviar black 3.0gb/s i couldnt see any other reason why it pulled so high, mb was a no name, so confused now i pull 7.6 7.6 7.3 7.3 5.9 i have a 2TB 6gb/s HD with a 6gb/s MB was convinced i needed a ssd
WEI is supposed to have a limit of 5.9 for HDD's, as a way of making sure they do not out score SSDs. but the only thing this shows is WEI is useless. Take no notice of it. Its the single most useless benchmark you could possibly run.
Definately a worthless benchmark - when I got my new system with 1 7200 rpm SATA 3.0 drive it scored 5.9 on the WEI. I upgraded to two of those drives configured as raid 0 and the WEI stayed at 5.9.
I had also run passmark benchmarks, re-ran those and verified that the raid 0 was running at twice the speed of the single drive as expected. So doubling the speed of the boot drive did not change the WEI of 5.9
