Wrong Cooler

I bought the wrong cooler and it's causing me an agony.

Case - HAF 912
CPU - i5 2500k
CPU Cooler - Thermaltake Frio
Arctic Silver
MoBo - Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P-B3
Memory - G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB DDR3 1866
GPU - Asus Radeon HD 6870 -
PSU - Seasonic SS-850HT
HDD - WD 1002 FBYS 1 TB 7200
SDD - OCZ Agility 2 90 GB

The cooler hangs over my first memory slot - making it unusable
Sounds like a freight train
Cooling OK but not great 40-50 C

Case is roomy but I need something that either sits a little higher, or one that isn't so wide.

If you are handy with a Dremel tool, grind off some of the heatsink fins so that it clears the 1st. stick of RAM.

Or if you can RMA it and get a better one that doesn't cover the RAM slot. NH-D14, Thermalright Silver Arrow, Thermalright Archon

It's not the fins - it's the fan itself. I don't think I can take enough off of the fan frame to help with causing a bigger problem.
