Hello,
I get this message fairly often. When I do, I simply hold the F2 key down until it boots into XP. I have no idea why this works. I found it by accident.

Suggest you correct the problem, and not circumvent it !

Disk read error is telling you something.
At a minimum, run chkdsk /r on your harddrive.
