Hello, I had a problem with my SSD not being recognized by windows and motherboard: see thread for more details http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/266926-32-longer-recognized-kingston-v100

At this point, windows no longer recognizes it even when its used in an external enclosure. I am going to turn this drive into the manufacturer for replacement but I have a lot of personal information on that drive.

Is there any way I can format this SSD without being able to access it? I would think not but I am not a computer expert.

Also, unrelated to the thread title but do manufacturers sign a contract saying they wont steal personal info?

Thank you.

You could try to make a ubuntu live disk maybe it would see it, it has worked for me before.

In order to wipe everything off the drive you could use some kind of secure erase program. Kingston should have some sort of exe to do this if not there are alot of other options. http://gizmodo.com/#!5494427/leave-no-trace-how-to-completely-erase-your-hard-drives-ssds-and-thumb-drives

But if you cant get anything to see it, your out of luck unless you destroy it.

As far as the manufacturers signing a contract I am not sure but I am sure if any personal info was to leak you could easily have them by the balls. So im sure they dont take that sort of stuff lightly. Chances are they try it to make sure that it works and if it doesnt it gets destroyed.
