External hard drive to lap-top

How I can access to my external hard disk inside PC to a lap-top?Can I disconnect sata connection and connect it to my lap-top's usb?

  1. Please be clearer. If it's inside the PC, it's not an external hard disk.

    Is it an intenal SATA drive, an SATA drive in an external eSATA enclosure or USB enclosure, or what?
  2. WK I think the OP is looking to connect a SATA drive extracted from a PC to a USB port on a laptop.

    If so a SATA to USB adapter is needed...

    Thanks for your reply.
    I have a PC with problematic motherboard(i.e no video due to chipset failure)
    The hard drives are ok.I wish to connect them to my lap-top but I don't know how.
    Would you please help me?

  4. Follow the link that FreeDataRecovery posted. It allow you to take the drive out of the old machine and attach it to a USB port on your notebook, so that you can read the data off of it.
