The triple channel is effected by the motherboard addressing the chips in 3 slots simultaniously, not a ram description issue.

Triple channel is a motherboard feature not a memory feature.
Three pieces of ddr3 installed in a triple channel motherboard become triple channel by an act of the motherboard, the northbridge and or the processor.
DDR3 is dual channel memory, it runs at twice the base value for lack of a better word. There is no tripple channel memory, there are dual channel memory sticks sold in a package of 3 for tripple channel motherboards. Are your parents home?
