H.264 problem

Can't open file on my laptop. Don't know what to do. What's the progrqm that can open file extensions 264? Need to back up my DVR. Need help! Please! This is a avi file I Believe, may have something to do with mpeg4. I'm tried of backing up the files on video, a little grainey but works. Would love a program that will play them. Thanks.

Install VLC Player, as tigsounds did say, and K-Lite Codec Pack. Possibly you'll see this video in WMP also.
