Hello, I dont understand why some companies are advertising T1 lines, which I understand to me 1.5 mps for hundreds of dollars while my home connection consistently gives me 20 MBS and it costs around $30 a month.
How can businesses pay so much for such a slow speed compared to what homes get?I must be missing something.

T1 is dedicated. That means you do not share anything with anyone, between you and the ISP. If your line goes down, they get it up ASAP.

It's like the difference between sharing an Interstate highway with lots of other people where you have good performance on average, but sometimes having your own separate road is better because you don't need to worry about random traffic jams.

Because of where I live and the towns bad cable system I had considered getting a T1 line until I found out the price , totally not worth it. A business is able to write off the expense for such a dedicated line and the fact that you have a lot less dropped packets and data loss is very much worth it to the companies.
The large cable providers do now offer business class cable internet with higher speeds then the T1.
