How do I remove a Background item in Display Properties?

How do I remove a background item from 'Display Properties' window, in the 'Background' list?
Somehow 'Internet Explorer wallpaper' was added to the 'Background' list but I do not know how to remove it.
There is no 'delete' or 'remove' button in the Background list window to get rid of it.
I am still using Windows XP on my computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :( Burnice

Move the image out of the appropriate folder. See this link:

I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the unwanted desktop wallpaper in Display Properties, Background tab with your instructions. I accidentally found a simple way to correct the problem:
I right clicked on 'Desktop'. Clicked on 'Refresh' and the original wallpaper returned, removing all the recipes and other unwanted links that were there.
Thank you so much for you help. It inspired me to learn more about my computer.
