Help with win xp dissapearing......

My freinds got this comp:
AMD 5000+ X2
nvidia 8300 mobo
nvidia 8400gs graphic card
2gb ram
We installed win xp on his comp. Its just 3 months old. Problem is, in every 2 weeks we have to reinstall win xp because the windows just dissapears. After loadin windows(@ the now loading screen), only the mouse pointer is visible. All the icons, task manager, start menu everythin everything just goes off. Whats the problem? Please help urgently required. Thank you!

When you installed it did you fully update it? Also is the computer prebuilt or homebuilt and how old is the HDD in it? The portion where windows installs tends to corrupt the fastest and when that happens it leads to some interesting issues. Also did you do a complete reformat prior to reinstalling windows each time?

The computer is brand new. Everything in it is also new. Computer is homebuilt. Is this pointing to HDD corruption?? Is thier possibility of 8400gs vs 8300 onboard graphics problem? Latest drivers were installed.And yes, I did a complete reformat prior to reinstalling windows.
