I would like to upgrade my AMD Sempron 3000+ processor. My Motherboard is a model GA-K8RS482M from Gigabyte Tech.

Doing a quick google search, the only real info I could find, was that there is no solid information on it. What kind of computer is it? (Dell, Lenovo, HP etc) Perhaps contact the manufacturer to find out what you can do with it.

Is this an old pc? I googled it too and couldnt find much except memory recommendations, which was all DDR400, which tells me this is a socket 939 board. If it is socket 939 then you may not be able to find a cpu for it very easily, and if so it may be highly overpriced. Of course theres also a chance that you cant even upgrade your cpu at all if its a prebuilt.

can you give us the Motherboard chipset. I cant find the motherboard on gigabyte website.

What i have found is that the cpu he mentioned, there 2 of them on amd website and they use the am2 socket. (i could have wrong cpu(s) but it seams to match the info.)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's either a Socket 939 or 754..
Unfortunately, if it is, he will have a bit of difficulty finding anything decent at a reasonable price.

If what I guess is correct, it would be better to simply save up and build a newer system.
