My question is this: Do all versions/models of AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ CPUs use Socket AM2 motherboards? I believe I've recently had a 6000+ fry on me (a topic on which I plan on starting a thread soon), and I'm soon to be in the market for replacing it.
My processor looks exactly like this processor on this page, but having not really bought anything other than a mobo/processor combo since the P3 days, I can't tell anymore (plus I'm at work and don't have the PC in front of me to check).
Is this a socket AM2, or is it something along the lines of a 939/754 like I had also thought it might be? Thanks for everyone's help in advance.
I'm not 100% sure since I don't have the PC in front of me (being at work and all), but I'm about 95% sure it's the ECS K8M890M-M, or if not that one exactly, a VERY similar model. And yes, I know, it's a PoS when it comes to motherboards, but it's what I've got to work with.
under that motherboard the Athlon X2 6000+ is the most powerful CPU that that motherboard can support.
You had better hurry up though because most of the Athlon X2 line have disappeared and are no longer being sold.
