hi guys, im planning buy a vc. either a 4850 or 9800gt. i know the 4850 is faster but how much faster is it given these specs? i think both cards would be bottlenecked, but i still expect to see a few performance gain. am i right?

e4600
intel dg31pr
4gb ddr2 800
250gb 7.2k rpm seagate.

They made a 4600?

You shouldn't be bottlenecked to much. You might want to overclock that CPU a bit if you can, probably be pretty hard with an actual Intel board. The 4850 is ~ to the 9800GTX. The 9800 is ~ to the 4830. I would get the cheapest of the those three cards, four if you can find the 8800GT. Assuming we are talking about running at 16x10 or smaller.

I think HD4850=9800GTX+ > 9800GTX > 9800GT
Follows the GPU charts to get more info.

No. The order would be 9800GTX+ > 4850 > 9800GTX > 9800GT ~ 4830. The 9800GTX was just a bit slower then the 4850, which is why Nvidia came out with the 9800GTX+.

What you are nvidia fanboy?

The truth is 9800GTX+ = 4850 NOT 9800GTX+ > 4850
