Will this PSU be up to the job? Not planning on x-fire or anything fancy. Not planning on over clocking in the near future. Or should I order something bigger?
Coolermaster eXtreme Power Plus 550w PSU with 1x PCI-E and 3x SATA
Well mentioning it only has 1 pci-e cable and the 4870 1gb supports 2 pci-e connectors to run, no, it wont work.
550w would be the minimum for that card for me, 650tx would be the max psu i would put on 1 of those cards.
Damn - thank you! You've saved my Saturday!
Going to double check now that I've made one n00b mistake ... will this do the trick?
(If it matters my case is a Coolermaster Centurion 5.)

Since you have a crossfire board, how about you leave the option open to add a SECOND 4870?
PC P&C 750W
This is enough for two 4870s
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817341011 It's also a very high quality PSU.
Well, you might not get that kind of price over there. The Corsair 750TX would be equivalent.
