I've had this cooler for several months. I tried several times to connect it to a generic ASUS board from HP, however the last time I tried I believe I may have used too much force and thought, at the time, that I cracked the MB. The exact problem seems to be that I can't get the pegs of the cooler to seat into the MB all the way; they won't snap into place. As stated above, I certainly used enough force to seat the S1283. I asked a pro and she said (Yes, you guys) that it might be possible to remove the screw inserts out of the MB that held the old fan assembly, giving me a bit more of a bore to fit the new insert screws. Barring that, I've checked into taking it to the local computer store where they said they'd charge me another $30 to get things right. Am I making sense?

dont go to the store lol for 30 u will get another 1283 :D

the pegs have to snap into place. if u have the original cpu, try to see if that one will snap ok.

Thanks. However I did try to snap the one I have and I fear that putting any more 'Thumbs' action will ruin the MB.

Make sure to read the instructions that came with the cooler. The pins have to be rotated the OPPOSITE direction as the arrows.

You could also ditch the push-pins and use a backplate and screws.

Thank you for the advice. I wrote to the company about possible answers and I'm still awaiting that reply. I did not know about the backplate and I'm ordering it now. Thanks again.
