Hi there,
Currently I have on my PC an Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 (Oc'd), Radeon HD4850 1GB, 4 GB RAM 2 250GB HDD and a DVDRW. Everything in a MSI P35 board and with a Zalman ZM460B-APS power supply.

I did a test a while ago with a Radeon HD4870 and I known the system can hold, but I will upgrade the system a little more, putting a Core 2 Quad Q9550 and maybe a Radeon 4890. I don´t have any hope in this setup with this power supply, but I don´t have much experience with this kind of configuration.

If my current power supply cannot fit this shoe, should I go for a 650W? Or I´ll need an even bigger PSU?

Thanks

Oh well...time to spend 200 usd more :(
Decent PSUs are expensive here.

Thanks

be careful. its not just he wattage. u need to make sure u have enough Amperes on the 12v rail. as far as i know, a quality 500-550W psu has at least a total of 20A on 12v rail. a corsair 500-550w should be just fine.

lol no. even 550 W should do the job.

Yeah i know. Unfortunately I cannot found any decent at this range.
Maybe
Probably I`ll buy a Corsair 650TX, but I will say goodbye to 200 dollars :(

Maybe I can find an OCZ 600 SXS or a Corsair 520HX. Will this PSU fits. They have less than 20A on the 12 rail, but have 2 rails.

the total sum of amps is important. 2 rail x 20A = 40A, witch is more than enough for 4890. i know a lot of guys that drive 4870/4890/gtx260/gtx280 on corsair 550W psu. even the 520HX should be fine. 650W is more money but it will keep u in the game for years to come.
