hey guys is there a software that will accurately measure the watts your cpu or total system is outputting? my boss is going to lend me a power adapter that will give a visual readout in a few weeks but i was hoping i could get something in the meantime.

Not anything accurate, no. You could get one of these though - they're pretty cheap:

Ecosoft has a clever software product called LittleFoot which can measure power consumption within a few % based on actual loading during PC use (as opposed to simply on/off times multiplied by default average power consumption). Only a corporate product at the moment though.

I do not see how a purely software solution can accurately measure power consumption with today's PSU's. There's simply no way to monitor current draw.

It really can't, especially for components like hard drives which are connected directly to the PSU and do not report power consumption to the motherboard.
