Esata trouble

I have a rosewill enclosed wd drive. if I plug in with the usb 2.0 it is fine if I want to use the esata conn. I have to have it on at boot up. I am running win7 64.bit service pack 1. I have a MSI 870A-G54 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard.

is there anything I can set to make it more plug and play.

Did you set the SATA mode in the BIOS as AHCI (Enhance)
If it sets as IDE/Compatible, then most like it won't support PnP
