Either would probably work out for 1080p playback with a video card that's at least like a ATi HD4350 or geforce 9400gt. The 5050e takes less power but it's quite a bit slower overall. However, it uses AM2/AM2+ which would probably be cheap enough that it's definitely worth considering.

You might want to just get a asus ion nettop. They feature 1080p playback ability, plus they look nice as well. Inside, they have the 9400 which will be sufficient unless you're playing crysis on a 40" plasma lol
