Hi guys,

i have an AMD system for about 2 and 1/2 years now and i bought the 212+ back then. I still have it but its slightlt dusty and has excess thermal paste still on it. Im going to be building a new soon so i need a new cooler. I want to overclock my (amd bulldozer hopfully) proceessor to not that high of clock speeds but keeping it quiet aswell. I was wondering if anyone knows any fans which are good performers and quiet for the hyper 212+ and also does it matter that its 2 years old and i havent used it for a year aswell?

Thanks !

I have an original Cooler Master Hyper 212 in my personal pc. I've used the 212 for several years and several upgrades. I also purchased other newer cpu heatsinks and conducted cooling experiments. The 212 can definitely hang in there. Cooling is excellent. Technical reviews were very favorable. The 212+ is probably the best bang for the buck.

If you are going to use the pc for typical home use and casual gaming then 1,200 rpm fans are recommended. If you are going to overclock and play games, then a 1,600 rpm fan is recommended.

I've had really good luck with the Scythe S-Flex 120mm fans:

For a quieter fan you might want to consider Noctua 120mm fans:

Just about every veteran poster has a favorite fan so it is pretty much a matter of personal preference.
