My motherboard has several PCIe x 16 slots, I am looking to get a new graphics card and I have heard that card designed for PCIe 2.0 WILL work in PCI 1.0 slots, with some hampered performance at high resolutions. Then I heard that PCIe 2.0 card WONT work in PCIe 1.0 slots only 1.1 slots, I have never heard of 1.1 slots and am not sure if that's what I have. Can anyone clear this up?

Thanks!

(Also do you need DDR3 mobo ram to support a DDR3 video RAM using graphics card?)

any card you see that is PCI-E 2.0 will work with no issues (or hampering performance) in your PCI-E x16 (aka 1.0) slots.

forgot your second question

video ram is independent of mobo ram so you your video card can use GDDR3 (or any other) while your mobo can use DRR2 (or any other).
