1.) 50 GB is acceptable for an OS only drive.

Question... Why split it into three instead of just running everything off the second partition??

2) 125 GB

3) 125 GB or what ever is left over.

By the way, is 50 gb for OS enough to include the system restore points, hibernation, future updates, etc.? For 4 yrs + w/o repartitioning the hard drive size..

3 FIles = 40% of 270 GB

50GB for OS is OK, but if many restore points are creates it can shrink fast. Right now, my OS drive have the OS (duh), some basic apps like Office tools, antivirus, IM, 7zip and the like and there are about 32GB gone (no swap file and no restore point however, I also put some of my "user folder" on another storage drive (like "My Documents", "My Music" and "Downloads").
