On my laptop (HP 6735s) f7 and f8 controls brightness. fn and f7/f8 dont work, however, fn and another function key work fine and f7 and f8 work fine on their own. Also, fn and the numpad numbers dont work but the -*/+ work.

Dunno what could be wrong. Suspect something in software or you having chosen settings that disable brightness control, perhaps a power control setting is involved. Dunno why some num pad functions work, and others don't.

Try calling HP.

hp put me on hold for 40min after telling them about the problem so I hung up. brightness works now for whatever reason.
