Write Protected CD's

How do I remove "write protection" from a CD so I can read it?

do you have the right type of drive to read the CD/DVD/Blu-Ray media?

a write protected device should still be readable.

Thank you! The disc contained two word docs that I was able to read but there was also a "Family Tree Maker" file that would not allow me to read it. I right clicked Properties and selected the: "read only " option but it said that it was : Write Protected and I don't know how to negate that.

have you tried to copy the file to your hard drive and then uncheck the Read Only?
