Sending pictures

Can you send pictures during a call? In the TV ads, they make it seem like
you can use your camera phone to snap a picture and zap it over to another
phone during a conversation.

I recently got Sony Ericsson T637 phones for my wife and I, and I've just
started playing with the camera. I can send pictures as MMS messages, but
not during a call - an error mesage tells me to try again after hanging up.
And they take quite a while to arrive, maybe 10 minutes or more sometimes,
so even if you could send them during a call, it wouldn't be at all like the
what it seems like on TV.

So what am I doing wrong here? Is there a way to send pictures to the person
you're talking to in a timely way, or are the ads giving a misleading
impression of how picture exchange works?
