Are you using a retail copy of the disk or a burned .iso file? If an iso file, try burning at a slower speed, maybe try a different brand of disk.

Most Windows 7 installation problems are caused by faulty memory. This problem can be caused by faulty memory I suggest that you run a memory test program such as memtest86 or even the one on the Windows 7 installation disk.

Ya it can be ram or hard drive. If your using an old hard drive its time to upgrade. Hard drives are cheap and they really only last about 3 years.
