2nd hard drive not showing after format.

hello everyone i am having kind of a problem with a 2nd hard drive.

this used to be a mybook 500gb from WD that i removed the drive from.

i backed up about 300gb of data to it before i reformatted my computer.

The drive is in a bay outside of the computer. the bay provides power to the drive and the line runs into the sata onboard.

this is not a eSATA but i have the option to do that. both are having the same problem.


another thing. in the device manager under disk drives it shows both hard drives. drivers show up to date and it says both are working fine.

the drive does not show up in my computer.

any help?

12gb ddr3 ram

as a quick update.

i restarted my computer and got a popup that shows "WDC WD5000AAVS-00ZTB0 ATA Device" "Ready to use"

with a big green check mark.

still not showing in my computer.

Not sure from your description, but it may be as simple as needing to partition and format the drive. It depends on what you meant by "reformatted my computer."
