Can someone get me in the right direction...
Total Noob at this, looking to build a budget HTPC.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE:

By Wednesday

BUDGET RANGE:

US $250-350

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT:

Functions for TV PVR have basic cable( dont have a cable box ) No HD service.
Surfing Internet
Creating DVDs of recorded shows / backup movies...

I want to hook up to 32" LCD ( 720p ) through HDMI

No gaming is planned, as I use PS3 for this.

looking to make this as cool, quiet and power efficient as possible.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED:

Here is what I have picked up so far....

Antec 300 Case

WD Caviar Black 750 GB OEM 7200 RPM SATA II

I have been reading that this maybe noisy for an HTPC type build... any other options here. It was picked up for $66.95 shipped.

OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 [newegg.com]

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W [newegg.com]

Radeon HD 4350 512MB video card [newegg.com]

not sure if I need this since, the motherboard would probably have onboard graphics that I could go with. I can use it for a later build.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS:

open to any, been buying mainly from Newegg.

PARTS PREFERENCES:

AMD for the budget.

OVERCLOCKING:

NO

CROSSFIRE:

NO

MONITOR RESOLUTION:

Not sure here.... If I was going with 720p, wouldnt it be 1440x900?

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

Been reading here and there...
I can't seem to decide on CPU and MOBO...

I have looked at the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5050e Brisbane 2.6GHz
with the ASUS M3A78-EM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD MOBO
just want to make sure they will work with the items I have already purchased above.

TV tuner card??? Suggestions here???

CD/DVD Burner

Not sure what OS to go with... thinking towards Windows 7 RC, but I still have to read up on that...

Again, No gaming is planned, as I use PS3 for this.

looking to make this as cool, quiet and power efficient as possible.

You didn't need to buy the 4350, and you could have saved a bit on a quieter Antec case bundled with a PSU, but your CPU and MB choices are fine. If HD speed isn't terribly important the Caviar Black 750 is fine. You should know however that the Caviar Black 640GB and 1TB models are a bit faster due to platter density.

Thanks Proximon, I'm ordering them today.

As far as the Tuner Card... does anyone have any good experience with that? I wont have a converter box in the loop, just cable from the wall to the card.
