I'm looking to make a system specifically for the adobe cs5 suite, premiere pro, illustrator, photoshop. I've done a bit of research on this, and a few times I've come across people suggesting a second hard drive for scratch files and for rendering?
I don't have much of a clue when it comes to hard drives and have never really dealt with more than one at once. If someone could possibly give me a hand here, it would be much appreciated.
For Adobe Photoshop CS5 the scractch file disk is used for proprietary virtual memory that Photoshop itself uses and should not be on the disk, which the operating system virtual memory uses and also should not be on the disk, where you store large files you are editing. For Adobe Premiere you can the separate file types to different disks for audio and video to improve performances so you are not writing to the same disk same time. You can go to the Adobe website and search for a more detailed explanation.
