Well Proxy, I have no idea why the wishlist was permanently retarded that last time, so I'll post links for this build.
All he does is play games, download, watch, and burn movies, and that's pretty much it. He's hoping for 1920x1200 in games with good settings.
Case: Antec 902 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129058
HD: WD Caviar Blk 1tb (x2) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284
PSU: Corsair 750tx http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006
(I told him that for the system he was building he wouldn't need that much power, but he informed me down the road he'd like to go for an i7, and that the deal on it was too good to pass up)
RAM: G. Skill pi blk 4gig http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231209
Mobo: Gigabyte EP-45 UD#R http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128359
CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037
Cooler: Zalman 9900 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118046
GPU: 4850x2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102809
So, I'm looking for a couple things other than general feedback.
1) Any deals that can save him some money
2) A possible AMD alternative, since the popularity of the phenom is so high right now for budget/mid-range gaming.
However, I haven't built AMD since I had a Winchester in high school. So, how's the tuning vs. Core 2?
