  1. At that price point I think the UD4P is the better buy, but it's not a huge deal:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128374

Better timings and you get 6GB instead of 3 for about the same price:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227381

Two 4890s will be all you need. The 1000HX is overkill for two, but it's a nice PSU. The 850HX is a bit better quality probably:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011&Tpk=850HX
  2. V10 is a waste of money. Go for the Noctua NH-U12P SE1366.

    +1 on the 850HX

The VRap is also a waste of money, go for the WD6401AALS, it will be almost as fast, twice as large, and a third the price.
  3. i will go for the ram thanks but the mobo i will go with asus and the power supply yes the only thang i see between the 2 is 1 more cpu 8 pin power
  4. the case is made to support the v10 so it will work less and do more and i like the tec
  5. Yeah the TEC looks to be about 5C better under overclocked load, and that's decent. Cheaper than water. As long as it works :) I hope it has a good warranty.
  6. if i get 2 6gb kit 3x1gb kit will that work better
  7. lol i mean 2 3gb kits
  8. 3x2GB uses less power and tends to cost a bit less, it also gives you the option of upgrading to 12GB in the future without needing to throw out 3GB of ram
  9. i cant put ram in this but 1 time
i am getting the cooler master v10

Where? I haven't seen anything to that effect. From what I have seen, the V10 is barely better than the $40-$50 coolers and weighs twice as much, putting much more strain on the MB and increasing the chance of damage if you move the computer around.
  11. the computer will stay in 1 spot for most of the time if i move it i will turn it off and remove it but i want to know if i remove it will i need to replace the thermal compound and the case i have i can remove it and dont have to take the mother board out

  13. how about that will that work i am just 15 trying to make my first build
  14. V10 review:
    http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/cm_v10/4.htm

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=216567

What I'm seeing here is that the cooler only really shines at higher temps, holding those down better than air coolers.

If you want to save some money, get this proven air cooler:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185093

And as I said before, the Corsair Dominator RAM is overpriced. The OCZ kit I linked will work fine.

Don't use Intel motherboards. They are quite gimpy.
  15. what do you mean gimpy
  16. i am making an i7 build for 2000 i am 15 what wod you suggest
  17. I would go with your first build over your second build & take into account everyone's comments. We are trying to help improve upon your build.

Example: WD 640 instead of the WD 300 VRaptor. The 640 cost roughly $75 vs $225 for the VRaptor for close to the same performance. The group is trying to get you the best / better performance for equal or less money.

Example: 850TX vs 1000HX. You would be better suited with the 850TX, instead of spending more on a PSU wattage you don't require.

Give these some thoughts... :). You are way ahead of where I was at 15 but of course my super computer was a Commodor64 at that age :)
  18. Intel motherboards don't overclock well, if at all. They also have had quality issues in recent years, perhaps because they don't sell many.

Gigabyte and Asus are the two brands you want to stay with for motherboards.
  19. how about that it looks better

  21. 850hx
  22. the 850hx is super solid if you want a modular PSU, however its also significantly more expensive and the 750tx will be more than strong enough even if you decide to crossfire in the future
  23. +1 hunter315...

Your new build is very solid... Well done!
  24. crossfire is what i wanted later and i want to know when i install windows do i need 2 dvd drives for the raid controller driver

  27. What OS will you be using? Try windows-7. You will have to buy and clean reinstall the official version by next summer. Or, look for an academic price on vista home premium-64 bit.

I think you can do better on the cpu cooler. Pick one of the top units in this review:
    http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=285&Itemid=62&limit=1&limitstart=16

Corsair or PC P&C 750w unit should be sufficient. If you want more, look at PC P&C silencer910. It is a bit stronger and cheaper with silver efficiency rating:

  28. i need a big psu for add ons later and i am gone dual boot a old copy of xp 64 and win 7 i hate vista and i changed my mind if i overclock it will be 3.0 ghz or maybe 3.2
and from what i hear it will not get 2 hot
  29. what about vista basic 64 will it suppoert 6gigs maybe 12 who knows 24

if you will only go to 3.2ghz or so then the V10 is a terrible waste of your money. Go for the Xigmatek S1283V DK or Scythe Mugen 2, they will allow an OC up to 3.6-3.8ghz pretty comfortably, and cost 1/4th the price of the V10.

Vista Basic 64bit only allows 8gb of ram.

Consider what you are saying before you are rude to the people who are helping you and trying to get you the most for your money.

That Zalman cooler is new and not heavily reviewed. While initial results are promising, the only full review on it was french:
    http://vr-zone.com/forums/442000/zalman-cnps10x-extreme-reviewed.html

While it seems to do well, its more expensive than other coolers that perform similarly, like the two that I mentioned above. Its your money, and if you feel like wasting it then that is your perrogative. But there is no reason to buy an expensive cooler like that if you are only going to OC to 3.2ghz. The coolers that I listed cost half as much and will perform very close, only at high overclocks 3.8ghz+ would you begin to see a difference in temperatures.

I will let others point out the other flaws in your build, I am done with this thread. I do not help people who act like they are doing me favors by providing threads for me to offer my advice on.
  34. sorry it wos a joke but if it dont cool good i will send it back
    what cooler do you use
