Im currently running a seasonic 700w in my centurion 590, and im wanting to get an antec 1200 case. I was wondering if anyone had a setup with the parts and could tell me if the 8 Pin cpu cable was long enough. Thanks in advance.
I built half a dozen pc's using the Coolermaster Centurian 590 case. It's a very good general purpose mid-tower case.
The Antec Twelve Hundred is a very good full tower case with excellent ventilation, air flow, and cooling suitable for gaming.
The length of the psu 8 pin power cable varies. Manufacturers normally do not specify how long the cables are. However, sometimes cable length is mentioned in technical reviews of power supplies. Which 700 watt Seasonic model do you have? There are several models, both OEM and retail.
There is a chance that if you want to run the 8 pin cable behind the motherboard tray up to the connector on the motherboard, then you will probably need an 8 inch extension cable which is readily available from many online vendors. Here is an example:
Unfortunately the review does not mention cable length.
BTW - The original S12 power supply was the basis for other brand name high quality power supplies. Seasonic makes power supplies for other companies. An example would be Corsair.
Thanks.
With your experience so far, is there much difference between the two cases in terms of length of cables? I had a look at some pictures, and there is a gap between the very top of the case and the motherboard (Antec 1200). Whereas with the case 590, it seems, its at fit at the top already.
Yes, the Antec Twelve hundred is a taller full tower case. The Coolermaster Centurian 590 is a shorter mid-tower case.
The height of the Antec Twelve Hundred is 22.9 inches
The height of the Coolermaster Centurian 590 is 17.5 inches
Some high quality power supplies come with longer cables and some do not. That information is not listed in the advertised specifications so it is a game of chance.

The EPS12V lead of the M12 700 is 52 cm long. With an Asus P6T Dlx in a Lian-Li PC-60F case the cable has to pass over the top of the MB, but it avoids the extra resitance of an extension cable. I think the arrangement with the Centurian 590 is virtually identical.

JefUk - Thanks for posting the length of the 8 pin power cable. The extra resistance is very very small. It is not a problem with high quality components.

Antec 1200 is fantastic case for air cooled high end pc's - just building one at the moment myself. And yes PSU cables even with a modular PSU can be a problem trying to wire neatly.
Spend some time planning the job and the extra time will be worth it in the end. You can find some specialist cable suppliers that will have extra long SATA / MOLEX / PCIE cable available - this doesnt help with the 24 pin power cable though as they tend to be non modular on most PSU's
