Hello all,

I have a new Gigabyte p55m-ud2 motherboard with an Intel i5-750 cpu that only shows up with 3 cores to the bios and OS. I assumed it was a bad cpu, but replaced it with a new one and still have the same issue.

I've upgraded the bios and all drivers, to no avail. Anyone have any ideas to try before I return the motherboard?

I'm completely baffled.

Thanks!
Greg

In the bios, there will be an option to enable a variable number of cores . Windows-7 also has the option. Has yours possibly been set to 3?

I have a very similar board, and there is indeed a setting within the BIOS that allows you to enable/disable specific cores. Double check to make sure those are all enabled. If they're all turned on, and you're still only seeing three, you may need to contact Gigabyte directly and see if perhaps you need to RMA your motherboard.

Aha! After some digging, I found the setting in the bios to set the number of cores. Strange that it somehow defaulted to 3 - I know I didn't change it originally.

I wonder if the first CPU had a defective core and the bios automatically adjusted... But then didn't re-adjust back to 4 when I put in the new cpu.

At any rate, all is well now! Thanks for the posts...
