Ga-m57sli-s4 phenom forum

I've been sifting through all of the tech forums and this is the only thread that I've managed to find that can help me with my processor issue. I recently purchased an AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0 ghz. I already own a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 AM2 motherboard. I'm not sure what version of the board I own as I did notice, in these forums, that there's apparently the board itself, then revision 1.1 and revision 2.0. Anyway, when I dropped my processor into to my mobo and booted up, I noticed that my clock speed is running at 2.3 ghz per core. Now, of course I was shocked. I tried everything, but began to grow tired when I could get my clock speed to increase to it's default speed and I could get Direct X to acknowledge the type of processor that I was running. So, I swapped my AMD Athlon 6400 X2 back into my rig. I know that my mobo is old and stuff, but if there's anyway, besides increasing my multiplier, to get my processor to run at default speed, please let me know.
