I've been sifting through all of the tech forums and this is the only thread that I've managed to find that can help me with my processor issue. I recently purchased an AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0 ghz. I already own a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 AM2 motherboard. I'm not sure what version of the board I own as I did notice, in these forums, that there's apparently the board itself, then revision 1.1 and revision 2.0. Anyway, when I dropped my processor into to my mobo and booted up, I noticed that my clock speed is running at 2.3 ghz per core. Now, of course I was shocked. I tried everything, but began to grow tired when I could get my clock speed to increase to it's default speed and I could get Direct X to acknowledge the type of processor that I was running. So, I swapped my AMD Athlon 6400 X2 back into my rig. I know that my mobo is old and stuff, but if there's anyway, besides increasing my multiplier, to get my processor to run at default speed, please let me know. I'd like to thank you in advance for reading and responding to my inquiry.
