If i was to upgrade to a 2500k I would like to see just how far I could push my 965BE. Right now im at 4.0ghz with a stock cooler and a side case fan. My temps max out at 66c in prime 95. Do you think I could get it as far as 4.5ghz if I had a beast air cooler? lol

Phenom 2's generally hit the wall with stability problems long before you will run into any real temp issues, that's why most people just save the extra cash and buy the 955 since its really just the same chip with the multiplier set lower and they will all hit the wall at usually just under 4 ghz.

I can get my 965 to 4.1 but then I have heat issues so I scaled it back to 4.0. I had it on 4.1 for some time but the stock cooler just wasent doing it lol. Thats why I was thinking possibly 4.5 lol. Throw the voltage up to 2.0 and see what happens lol.

Well prime 95 gives yu temps you will almost never see in regular use Im sure you can do more to raise the temps but Im more than sure there is no way you could use a PC as in gaming or things like that, that would peg all 4 cores at 100% and the GPU at 100% for any period of time.

I think on a gaming rig without alot of importand info or files on it, Prime 95 is overkill. If I can play a game like Metro 2033 for a few hours and the game or system does not crash its stable. If its stable and temps are well under max what is there to worrie about? The slim chance of some data corruption? People worrie to much.

Still, 2coresload + furmark would give more heat,than a 4core prime95.
