Hello. I'm not too savvy with computer displays, and lately I've been having a problem I can't seem to figure out. For about a week now my lcd has been showing a line going horizontally across it. But it's not a line so much as it is a divider. whenever I'm scrolling through web pages, or watching a movie that has some moderate to fast paced action, that invisible divider line 'thingy' distorts the middle of the lcd.

Is this what dead pixels are? or is it a graphics card related issue? as of now I have a soyo lcd monitor and a sapphire hd4870 gpu.

if anyone could enlighten me on the issue it would be much appreciated. thanks.

do you get the line all the time??? if those are dead pixels then they should show up all the time and what are the specs of your monitor?

You can try this software:

Dead pixel tester

Try a different monitor. If it repeats, then you probably have a bad video card.
