Gskill Ram DDR3-1600 1/2 stick problems?

I wanted to be sure before I RMA'd it. I bought a 2x2g set of Gskillz and immediately started having sod problems. I ran Memtest on both sticks together and it came up that the sticks were'nt compatible. Then I ran each individual stick and the first one said something like cpu isn't working with it. I put the second stick in the same #1 slot and Memtest ran fine for hours. Now I assume the one stick is bad and I should send it back but I wanted to make sure, any help would be appreciated.
