I had a thought fly through my mind just before I fell asleep last night,
which startled me and caused the creative juices to start flowing like
mad... Sleep didn't come for another couple of hours, but that's okay.
When inspiration strikes, go with it! LOL
I am now planning a new custom neighborhood......TV Land! It will be filled
with houses and families from old TV shows. I've been doing research online
to get pictures of the houses used in the sets and will be sketching them
off on graph paper shortly.
Samantha and Darrin Stevens in their two story modern home at 1164 Morning
Glory Circle, with Gladys and Abner Kravitz next door.....(Bewitched)
Lucy & Ricky Richardo living upstairs over Fred and Ethel Mertz in an old
apartment house in New York City.....(I Love Lucy)
Ward and June Cleaver, with Wally and the Beaver, living next door to Fred,
Gwendolyn, Lumpy and Violet Rutherford.....(Leave It To Beaver)
Steve Douglas and Uncle Charlie with the three boys, Mike, Robbie and Chip
will adopt the orphan Ernie....(My Three Sons)
Archie and Edith Bunker will share their Queens bungalow with Mike and
Gloria Stivic....(All In The Family)
Carol and Mike Brady in their huge ultra modern home with Greg, Marcia,
Peter, Jan, Bobby and Cindy. (Unfortunately, due to the 8 sims limitation,
poor Alice won't be there until at least one of the kids goes to
college....)(The Brady Bunch)
Andy and Opie Taylor in their homey little country house with Aunt Bee in
the kitchen and a creek to fish in out back....(The Andy Griffith Show)
Liberals Steven and Elyse Keaton, with their Republican son Alex P., and
other kids, Mallory, Jennifer and Andrew...(Family Ties)
Howard and Mary Cunningham with Richie and Joanie in the house and Fonzie in
the apartment over the garage.....(Happy Days)
Fred and Lamont Sandford living in the junk yard, with crabby Aunt Esther
making her appearance as permanent house guest....(Sandford and Son)
Heathcliff and Clair Huxtable, with their kids Theo, Denise, Vanessa and
Rudy in a brownstone with a doctor's office out back.....(The Cosby Show)
Anybody got any other ideas for me?
Jeanie -- going to fire up Body Shop

There is a great frankenstein at the exchange that you can fiddle with to
make into Herman Munster. But thinking there is the whole family there too.
And don't forget the Addams Family

Indeed. Gomez, Morticia, Grandmama, Uncle Fester, Wednesday, Pugsley and
Lurch. I had them all in my Sims1 game, including Thing which lived in a
box. Can't remember where I got it, but it was neat.

Perhaps he could live in an apartment over Floyd's barber shop with Thelma
Lou in the apartment next door.... I'll make him ugly as a mud fence and he

Hey, the more the merrier. If the sims turn out well I might even try
uploading them to MTS2 to share. As much stuff as I've downloaded from
them, it's about time I gave something back.

I downloaded a Brady Bunch from somewhere once - can't remember where,
'spose it doesn't really matter. But you do realise that if you create Alice
in a different family you can use SimPe, the teleporter bush and/or (I
think) boolprop to add her to an already full family?

There's a way to do it using SimPE. I saw a tutorial on it somewhere.

Bluegenie has pointed me in the direction of a book of houseplans to get me
started. And I will be posting pictures as I finish each one. If I can
figure out a way to package the lots without having them be huge, I'll
upload them to the Exchange or someplace. Same with the sims. This is
going to be fun!

No, I didn't know that. Doesn't it slow down the game? Have to check that
out. Thanks!

Anything we add can slow down the game. Do you have problems running a house
with guests as well as the people in it? I find that it is usually the size
of the house that slows my game down and not necessarily the number of Sims
that are there.

But, of course, in reality, the shows themselves were shot on soundstages,
many of which were used over and over again.
Ever notice how the living room in both The Cosby Show and All in the Family
are the same? Layout that is, from front door to the door to the kitchen.
What caught my eye was the stairs
I was thinking about getting that book myself. At least it would give some
good plans to go by

A few years ago, my family visited Universal Studios Hollywood when we lived
in southern California. We took a tour of the area on a tram and went down
a couple of streets that had the actual houses used for the exterior shots
of many of these old shows. I was astounded at how close together they are,
like, right smack up against each other. There was the Cleaver house, right
next to the house from Murder, She Wrote, across from the Psycho house and
the Bates Motel. Amazing stuff. It's wonderful what trick photography can
do. None of the houses were full size, either, though they did have full
fronts and sides. Just shells, of course.

I had another thought this evening while in the shower. (I seem to do most
of my creative thinking late at night, don't I? LOL) I got to thinking
about the additional characters from some of these shows, people like
Potsie, Malph and Cbachi from Happy Days, or Mr. Drysdale and Miss Jane from
Beverly Hillbillies. They'd be fun to create, too, but I don't know that
I'd really want to try to build houses for them.
Couldn't I create the sims and then use either the teleporter shrub or
boolprop to make them into townies? If I did that, would they replace the
townies that are generated in the game automatically? Then they could
interact with all the characters in the neighborhood.
Barring that, I suppose I could just move them all onto a lot somewhere in
the corner of the neighborhood (or at least 8 of them at a time) and stick a
phone on it. Then they'd wander around from time to time on their own and
still be available to call up and invite over. And if I used the "join an
existing family" function that came with University, they'd all retain their
own last names, wouldn't they?
Just some random thoughts before bedtime...

What worries me about that book is that it is a paperback. Wonder if the

All of my house plan books are paperback. That doesn't mean they are pocket
paperbacks, though. But, if it does turn out to be one, I can always scan
each picture, enlarge it, and print it out.

Thank you.
I'm discovering that it isn't going to be easy to find the right clothing
and mair for these characters. I need tan sherrif's uniforms! I need hair
like Lucy's! I'm going to need short poofy on top hair for several of the
characters, too. I need full skirted shirtwaist dresses! LOL
Anybody know I might find some?

Check all around MTS2.
Or maybe make andy and barney in street clothes
Or just recolor the army uniform from the game, course you would have to
unlock it, but there is a tutorial on how to do that mts2.

I'll have to check that out, but I'll tell you upfront that I've never done
anything like that before. I'm hoping to find something suitable already
done somewhere. I really need the police hat, too for Barney. I know
there's one in the game and it needs to be tan to match the uniform.

Thanks, I'll be checking those. Found some hair that might work for Lucy at
TSR, but it isn't really right. I did subscribe, though.
