My xps 400 powers down with a flashing amber power light. I thout it was a driver from Roxio that caused the problem. But I got a patch from Roxio which solved the driver problem. But i still get the power down issue. Can you please help me?
Thank You,
Carl Dischinger

The blinking amber light is a sign of a bad power supply, replace it.
These work fine in the XPS400 ;

Frist check temps to make sure it is not overheating, secondly run memtest to test RAM, ten try another PSU if You can borrow one.

To be honest it is most likely PSU or power circuitry on the m/b, but start with easiest things first just to rule out, there is no need to buy new PSU just o find out that it did not help and You had it overheating or a bad stick of memory.
