these are both diamond radeon cards i just bought will they work together in crossfire

I think so, since they are the same GPU, but you will only get the 512mb frame buffer.

Yes, they will work together in crossfire. The only thing is, they will use the lowest amount of RAM they have in common which is 512MB, so even though you have a 1GB card, the drivers will treat it as though both cards only have 512MB.

Thank you so this is my first crossfire/sli setup im hoping this will suffice for awhile! any opinions greatly appreciated! im running amd 6000+ dual core soon to be 2 hd 3870 in crossfire mode on a asrock a780gxe/128m and 8g g.skill vista ultimate 64bit!think ill be good for awhile?
