I've got an IBM Thinkpad X series laptop, and I have
found the perfect case for it.

For those of you who have a Container Store near you
(in the USA), for $20 you can buy a commercial grade
rugged case that perfectly fits the X series units.
I bought some foam at my local hardware store,
and with that there is just enough room for the laptop,
powersupply, power cable, and a few pieces of paper.
There is probably enough room for one of those mini
laptop mice.

I bought one for my laptop, and later got another
for my digital camera.

Post it when you find one. I am looking for one for my new TR3A as well.
There's a semi hard slip case for TR but not sold in the USA. Can be found
in ebay which is imported from Japan for about $60. A bit pricey for me
though.
