E4500 pin mod?

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs E4500 pin mod?

Word :    Username :

I have a LOCKED dell bios, so theres no way in hell to OC in it, I tried apps like setFSB and it just resets the 2 bars in the app.
but i heard that this pin mod is safe and can increase the cpu speed without the bios being involved.
so my question is if I do whats in this link to get from 200 to 266, would it increase my 2.2 ghz e4500 to a higher freguency? and is it safe??

thanks in advance! ;)

It may work (though I've never tried it myself) but it's certainly not safe, a lot of people are reporting failures.

My e4300 worked fine when pin modded at 1066 fsb. Each cpu is different; sometimes it works, sometimes not. Some boards won't even post with a pin modded cpu; some will give you a message that the board isn't designed for your cpu, but if it works, you're ok. I would only use copper tape, not rear window defroster solution.

im only thinking of putting the tape on the 2 pin, no ink or wires or what ever,

Just keep in mind that when you do things like this it may cause you more issues than you would want. If you aren't going to be inconvenienced with a disabled laptop then give it a try, that way you will have time to decide what the next move is if something goes wrong.

What exactly are you trying to do this for, gaming or just general use?

Could this CPU work for me?

No. Not unless you get lucky and find someone who has tried it on your model board. Oem...
