Hey everyone. I'm getting my hands on a Atomic ATI 4890, and am planning a new computer around it. With a budget of around $1200 or so (not counting the vid card), what system parts do you recommend? Keep in mind I might Crossfire it eventually, later in the fall if I can get my hands on a second one. So an eye toward expansion would be nice.

This computer will predominately be used for gaming.
I have a 24" Dell monitor that I will be carrying over
I plan on using Windows 7 RC 64 bit

I've been told there is no true difference between DDR2 and DDR3, is this the case?

What processor/MB combo should I go for and how do I figure out how much wattage I need in total for the tower?

Thanks for the time!

Sure, as far as speed. But modern hardware needs DDR3 mostly anyway. At your budget you want an i7 system, so that means triple-channel DDR3.

The Corsair memory is overpriced but at least they gave a deep discount.

More than enough power for your needs.
