What's causing my sound to distort?

I have an integrated sound card.

I believe it's a SoundMax HD Audio.

I tried the obvious and attempted to update the driver but when I do it fails installation with an error about my system not supporting it.

I am trying to see if there's a Legacy driver too but I can't find it.

I am kind of at a loss as to how I can fix this annoying noise issue.

To put a spin on the problem I uninstalled the Soundmax driver because I was trying to install the newer version. After the reboot I saw that my computer installed new sound drivers.

The new drivers seem to be working better as I haven't had distortion problems yet.
