Hello

They have the Intel 510 120 gig on sale for 279.99 at Buy.com today and I am tempted to buy it.

I just wanted to ask opinions on SDD.
Which ones do you have/like?

What other versions or other SSD's do they have?

The Intel 510 is a big disappointment IMO, as the older X25-M G2 outperforms it in many occasions. I would look at the Crucial C300 or Vertex 3, if running at SATA III board. Otherwise, I would look at the Intel X25-M G2.

Oh okay.
Yes my board has Sata III/6.0gb.
Is the Vertex 3 out yet? If so what is the exact name / model # do you suggest?
I will take a look at the Crucial C300

Thx.

Since your motherboard is equipped with SATA III (6 Gb/s) ports, then a SATA III (6 Gb/s) ssd would be an appropriate choice.

The OCZ Vertex 3 ssd's will become available on Monday, March 21st. There are several other brands that are available. Here is a link to a list of those that are currently available at newegg.com:

The Intel 510 ssd's were a big disapopointment for gamers and enthusiasts.

The Crucial C300 ssd's are very popular.

I am a beta tester for OCZ and have the Vertex 3 240GB model and it's definately a winner. Based on friends and other forum members who own several of the drives listed here, I would still recommend the Vertex 3 over all available at the moment. Even the C400.

Really is a sweet controller with ultra low latency and huge IOPS.
