My EVGA GeForce 8800GTX went out, I am thinking about replacing it with a GTS 250 or a 9800GTX. Both 512MB
I play world of warcraft and Oblivion and have always set video to application controlled. I have never cranked up the card, just left it at default. I think I am leaning more toward the 250, but it seems that since I dont crank the settings up that the 9500/9600GTX 1GB cards might work for me just as good as the other two. would like some advice have been looking at benchmarks and the 250 and 9800 seem to be really close. My system specs are (was the top in march 2007 when I had the system made) lol.

CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GHz
Harddrive: 320GB SATA-II
Mainboard: EVGA nForce 680i SLI chipset LGA775 (quad-core supports)
Memory: Corsair XMS2 xtreme PC6400 (2x1GB)
Powersupply: Thermaltake ToughPower 600 Watt - Quad and SLI ready
video: was EVGA GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 16X PCI express
Windows XP Professional with all service packs

9500 or 9600GT? 1GB on those cards are useless.

A 9600GT is much better than a 9500GT...but more expensive.
Get yourself a 4650 or such...it is better than a 9500 but not as good as a 9600.

I'd stick with Nvidia, either the GTS250 or 9800 are OK but a bit of a downgrade from the 8800.
For a slight upgrade, go for the GTX260.
Do n't expect to see much of a performace boost in WoW, particularly in big raids, the CPU/internet conection seem to be the limiting factors here.

Here's how the various cards stack up against each other:

Did the 8800 die with artifacts like these?

If so you might want to try this:

Be warned, this may not work and read the whole thread before you begin!
