Hi all im looking for a sound card for studio recording to be able to make demo cd's...
I dont have the most cash in the world.... but i would rather spend money for something that's going to last me a long time....
any Ideas on what to get?

I take it you need a studio quality card, or will any low-latency card do?

Really, I'm not the most up to date on studio level cards; ASUS's line is probably the best for you're task (Xonar DX, D2/D2X, STX Essence, HDAV 1.3), but not up to studio quality recording...

My suggestion is to first think about the software you are going to use. Then go the forum of the software vendor and ask what audio interfaces people there use. Even though audio interfaces (as long as they come with an ASIO driver) are often less problematic than MIDI devices, I'd still address my question to people that the same software I'm planning on using. The forum of the software vendor will have more users which are familiar with the kind of equipment you need than the users following this forum.
